End of Year Activities

Clay Animals
Room 5 had some clay left from Mix and Make Day, so we made clay animals. First we had to make them very carefully, Flynn and some other people made dragons. Then we had to paint them white. Once they were dry we painted them the colour we wanted them.

Christmas activites
We had lots to choose from on the 13 of December and we had three wordfind to do. They were simple. We made masks, there was a Santa and Ruldoph. My mask doesn't fit.

lollies
We had to make boxes and do a back ground, then tape the sides. Then Mrs Roberts put 6 lollies in. We were really lucky because they were yummy.

Movies
First we watched a robot movie, it was funny and was in Room 8. Then we watched Marmaduke.

Dancing
Some children learned ballroom dancing this term.

Ella's Aunties coming to school

It was exciting for everyone including me and them. Their names are Audre, Nola and Mare. Auntie Audre is from Canada, Auntie Nola is from where the oil spill happened and Auntie Mare is from up in the top of the North Island. Auntie Audre left that Friday after she came. They went to Aimee's and Cade's, as well as Ella's class.
Everyone was amazed how big our family is. Nola does not like Dogs but she would like a horse. Audre is great at cooking and makes it yummy. Nola loves shopping and is good at it. Mare loves playing games with us and she lets us choose. They came with Anna my Grandma. At the end every one asked an age question. After they went to all the classes they went shopping and out for lunch.

The Amazing Cute Rabbits

Ellie-rose and Piper brought a rabbit each to school on Friday. We had the rabbits for the day. The mother rabbit scared Jumpy who zoomed around the class room and I had to catch Piper's rabbit and put it in its cage. Clover went under Mrs Roberts desk.
We fed them lettuce, silver beet, strawberries from Tessa and cucumber from Ellie T. It was funny when Jumpy peed on Sophie.
It was lovely to have Jumpy and Clover at school for the day.

The Difficult Maze

The Maze of Glory.
The maze is in a deep ditch. It is made out of long wooden planks. The maze is as big as four classrooms. There two gaps on the bottom of the maze. I couldn't go under the planks because it hurt my back.
Me and my friend got out as fast as a rocket as well as trying to beat my friend.
The puddles were muddy. Once I fell in the mud and my bottom was dirty. Me and Kyle laughed. I almost wet my pants because I was laughing so hard. I still went on going but I didn't go far because I was still laughing very hard. I still went on-going through it. I beat Kyle. I didn't need help.
The weather on the first day was pouring down. The rest of the times it was sunny and warm.
The first time I went in I rammed into the wooden wall.
It was the best time ever.

Missy's Visit to School

Missy is fluffy and cute. She came to Room 5 at Brightwater School on Friday and she was real jumpy. Missy ran over Zane, it was real funny.
Missy jumped off the deck and strangled herself. Nico, Bailey and Luca helped put her back up. Then I put a rubbish bin there so she did not jump off again. She is black and white like an All Black and is a Border Collie.
We shared ideas about how to treat your dog. It was really cool having Missy around at school.

Staff room opening

Last Friday Brightwater School had a powhiri to open the new staff room. Rahania and Alisha welcomed the guests to the powhiri. We sung three songs in Maori to the Board of Trustees and the parents. All the classes lined up outside Room 3 and the parents sat on some chairs facing us . One of the board of trusties did a speech and cut the long lime green ribbon. After the powhiri all the class rooms got to wander through the stylish new staff room . There were long pitch black sleek couches . Out the back of the staff room there was some small bushes and a small step , the new staff room was great.

School Assembly

On Friday afternoon Room 5 took our Brightwater School assembly. It was about the 2011 Rugby World Cup. We all had to research a country who is competing in it.
Milly and Ollie took it for our class. Zach, Jorja, Harrison and Ella shared a poem each. When we did our parade we showed our country flag we made. After that our class went in our pool groups and shared our information we found out.
Fenixs told some things about how we made our puppets and then we went in our Inquiry Groups to show our puppets. Next the Inquiry Group leader told what fairy tale our puppets were from and finally we introduced our puppets. At the end we said ''we know the All Blacks will win." When we said it Ellie T shook her head.
When we were up the front, some of us felt nervous and the rest felt fine. The ordinance loved it. Mr Baldwin said that was the best assembly ever. After it, we felt proud of our selves.

Making Pizza

Ange got us out of class. We are Mitchell, Ben and Nico. First we got a base then we got some food to put on top.
Nico put lots of ham on his pizza because he loves ham. Ben put lots of cheese on his. We made our pizza a double decker pizza like a bus.
We had tomato, ham, cheese and pineapple but Ben didn't put pineapple on his.
When the pizzas came out of the oven, Nico had the first try. It was yummy and he let Ange have a piece.
"I thought it was a game of pizza," said Nico, "not real pizzas!"
"The smell made us very hungry," said Ben and Nico.
"I liked making the pizza and especially eating it!"

Domain Picnic

That was cool! Yesterday Room 5 tickie toured to the empty Domain Park. I saw my step Nan's work and I saw her.
Our class sat down on the hard bark under the shady trees in the corner of the park. We shared our yummy food but we ate our own lunch first. The shared food was popcorn, biscuits and chips. Room 5 got to do this because we got a class treat. It was like we got to go home early but we had buddies to walk with. Everyone got to play around on the park. Me, Charlie, Phoebe, Ella and Georgia did Cheer Leading dances. Some of the boys played rugby.
When we were going back to our school we had to line up when we heard the whistle blown by Mrs Roberts. We got different buddies on the trip back but some people didn't. It was really fun at the picnic.

The Enchanted Forest

WOW!!! I wonder what this native bush setting is about ???
"Ah Mya, hey, the show is starting to look cool and that Tuatara is giving us the message about the show. Nice, it's about New Zealand's native bush and about birds, sneaky possums, grey rats, blue eels and all native creatures.
Hey Mya, those singing, long leg pukekos are so funny string puppets and the blue eels are telling us about keeping our rivers clean and safe. Those frogs have a funny singing sound, here comes the big frog. I got to pat it and it was fluffy and soft like clouds in your bed. That moas good at telling us about endangered species.
I had a great time, I hope the people and their puppets come back again one day to our school.

Delicous baking

In the last week of Term 2 Room 5 did some baking.
There was group 1, group , group 3, group 4 and we got put into groups of 6. We had at least 45 minutes each. I went in the last group and baked a cupcake and a dinosaur biscuit.
Room 5 decorated them with chocolate and lots of lollies, in the afternoon. Two groups had 6 and one group had 7 and the other one had 5 people. We couldn't have more than two pieces of food. In maths we have been learning about geometry and we had to design our own net and then assemble it into a container to put our baking in.
Our baking was the best baking ever!

Our Amazing Balloon Cars

On the 12 of July Room 5 built balloon cars. We had to decorate a piece of cardboard and sand paper milk bottle tops. Second we had to thread a long squewer through the bottle tops and the we put them through a straw and then we hot glued the straws onto the card board. Next we got a long straw and a balloon and stuck them together then onto the cardboard and we tested to see if the balloon would blow up ... and it worked!
Then the next day we had races in the hall . Lots of people got a lolly pop for a treat for winning all three races.
I think it was pretty cool and so did the WHOLE class.
